The 7 world's most beautiful ruins

For: Daniel Landa

Stones. Only barren rocks, cairns. Stolen Stones desert or jungle or mountains of the Andes. This is what we have left, most tangible legacy of our ancestors is measured in stones. Yet, We also speak stones beautiful cities, impossible pyramid, of delusions mortuary and sacred temples. In the cities of today there are only concrete blocks, architects trying to design the life ordering bricks, crystals and sidewalks. In my opinion, is now when the world is in ruins. What other dreams were left us stone.

1.- Tikal (Guatemala)

It is the first World Heritage Site known for his dual historical and ecological. Ie, here one can climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Jaguar while listening to the roar of the flying monkeys or contemplates the toucans. The city retains the central square as if the Maya were to extend a morning market. The pyramids are haughty, regal, to gaze proudly among the trees of the forest of Petén.

2.-Meroe (Sudan)

Only the desert contemplates. When we arrived at the archaeological site of Meroe felt the shock of loneliness. Not a clueless backpacker enjoyed these Nubian pyramids. Locals come up there with a camel for tourists (singular) Enjoy a walk along the sand at 45 ° C Meroe. The brownstones are most abandoned temples that still other ruins of temples and the presence of wind tops loneliness… why are exclusive ruins.

3.-Karnak (Egypt)

Las ruinas of Karnak sound, more than anything else, giant. The avenue of sphinxes and awe. After the hypostyle hall with 134 columns 23 meters high. They are just data to understand the smallness one feels in this place, in the largest religious temple in the world. The obelisks point to the sun, with infinite solemnity. As in the rest of ruins, and no reliefs decorating colors, but how would this place polychrome? Who conceived?

I felt that there was a city in the middle of the mountains but rather that mountain was there to decorate an eternal city

4.-Machu Picchu (Peru)

In my opinion the most beautiful of the ruins of the planet. When I discovered, almost at once, Machu Picchu, was dawning. I felt that there was a city in the middle of the mountains but rather that mountain was there to decorate an eternal city. The buildings seem to slide down the slopes. The Incas had delusions, why were geniuses. There are temples on mountaintops, stone stairs facing the sky, terraces of scaled never ends. It's all so beautiful that even today I do not believe.

5.- Teotihuacán (Mexico)

Was our first pyramids around the world. The sun, of the moon. The Avenue of the Dead is a solemn avenue of sphinxes as, perhaps because the Egyptians and the Teotihuacan shared respect for the deceased, or fear of the gods, or both.

6.-Tihuanaco (Bolivia)

Among the Incas and the Mayans, Aymara unnoticed, but it turns out they built larger pyramids, schedules did before, and were also skilled surgeons. The city of Tiwanaku is one of those unexpected places because nobody Bolivia looking for its ruins and yet, within the walls of Tihuanaco, figure is sculpted Wiracocha, the god of the Andes

7.-Pyramids of Giza (Egypt)

Not, I refuse to write a single word about the pyramids of Egypt. Anything you say will be a platitude. The pyramids are the pyramids (Do you see? A simplicity)

What we have left ..?

There is one detail that I consider somewhat ugly here: We have left out the whole of Europe: his Parthenon giego, coliseo of Roman, su distance novel, Roman plazas… ¡Rome! Someone also miss the aqueduct of Segovia, that is so well, not be called ruin, City Chichén Itzá, the temples of Angkor… phew.

Thanks Daniel for collecting these 7 world's most beautiful ruins for you and expose and undressing. There is a phrase you say at first that I stay and I totally agree: «architects who try to design life by arranging bricks, crystals and sidewalks. In my opinion, is now when the world is in ruins. What the others left us were dreams of stone. Although it must be recognized that the occasional architect is an artist and is also leaving some structures that will one day be adored ruins…… A hug

Great summary, yes, because this is only a summary of so many wonders of the past that dot our seemingly small blue ball. And what will yet be discovered…
