Sydney: The Phantom of the Opera

When I was seven I listed what I wanted in life. I can still see written in a fat and twisted: "Having a house and garden, helicopter ride, ir in Australia ... ".

Australia

The Phantom of the Opera in Sydney after us the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere during infancy, adolescence, youth and sometimes life. Embodies far, it inhospitable and unexplored, the other side of the planet, the Antipodes, the parallel world. And then one day you see one and, is there, is true that there is one and over until insolent beauty and has the power of the new world far away.

I arrived in Sydney on a flight that landed on time English in the afternoon and I remember the warmth of the airport, so cute and funny as are the Australians and the few people who saw, or how great I turned out the spaces. A bus took me to downtown, from where I was walking to a hostel, I left the backpack in the room and went at once to discover. The ruler of the place, a sinister and taciturn type initially but proved an amiable citizen, I gave a basic level of guidance and four slogans. “And the Opera?"I asked, trembling with emotion. “Ah, yes, it´s right here”, I pointed. Just a half hour walk.

 Sídney Opera… House

In doing so pleasant-sufferer sometimes delay us if we go to bed when sleepy, have much to eat if hungry or diving into the sea if it is hot, began to walk the streets of Sydney (The streets of Sydney!) delaying the time to look out the bay and see the outline of the shells of the Opera show. At the end of a wide street and in the botanical garden, after passing through Hyde Park, wander the streets and shop windows and lean out of bars and cafes I went to the first view of the bay. It was getting dark, cruzándome going with groups of young people who spent chatting with good humor and I still remember like it was just now feeling poignant: Here is! when I saw.

When you see it first feels a strange and thrilling satisfaction, tingling nose, a tear almost crops out, A plethora vital.

The opera is huge, beautiful and mythical. Nautilus shells as have those who leave each other with a fan or comb and a fabulous setting. The bay is stunning, can range from several perspectives and the scope and beauty add up the spirit of the walkers, relaxed, happy, without the hustle and stress to which we are accustomed tourist myths, and browning of the dusk.

When you see it first feels a strange and thrilling satisfaction, tingling nose, a tear almost crops out, A plethora vital. Is, despite being at the opposite pole, like home again. Much energy suddenly filled my tired legs a boost to her walker and walked, I played, entered, I left, I talked to people, I called family and friends, I took pictures and other pictures, I was filled air of the Bay Australia a long swinging legs on a bench facing the sea.

And more

The most famous of Sydney does not disappoint and the whole city does not do it at a time. The days I spent there were not enough and still do not know anyone for whom it has been. There is a neighborhood called The Rocks where I spent a morning on the recommendation of the silent type. In my walk I noticed tempranero the sign of a pint of coffee endearing hanging on the first floor of a low house, so I went. The whole floor was made of wood, The sun streamed through the narrow street and sat on a low table on the balcony where I took a steaming coffee and smoked my first cigarette Australian since he had stopped smoking. No fault. Because if something is Australia is that, border, with laziness will confiscate the guilt.

If Australia is that something has, border, with laziness will confiscate the guilt.

That day I walked art galleries, shopping streets of Mount, fishing and camping and the other days of the zoo and parks. I ate vegetarian wraps extraordinarily rich, perhaps it was a specialty of the city, interacted with Australian and foreign, I marveled at the people swirling orange sunset on the door of pubs taking the beer afternoon naps or sleeping in parks. There are Victorian houses with statues in the gardens, by marauding cats bins haphazardly arranged, sailboats in the harbor of masts clinking and shops as wrapping paper in Japan. Three years ago The Independent published a list of the top ten libraries in the world to which I looked before traveling across, and "Boat books" in Sydney was one of them, So also I went to the paradise of surfers, explorers of the ice and landlubbers ... I do not have much space and do not want my editor scold me so I say no more. Only, insofar as possible the, be a once in a lifetime to Sydney. Sometimes I landed in Paris citizens of Asia, of Australia, New Zealand, who are enthralled to watch, photograph, and twists and turns to the Eiffel Tower and I imagine that was in its infancy lists, to be the inverted version of the journey far, monumental and magical children's dreamy Southern Hemisphere.
