Top 7 / Indian Magic

For: Daniel Landa

Trusting others is the most humane way to live the adventure. No fear of another, enjoy the difference and learn from it, this is perhaps the true legacy of a world tour. Tourism helps to relativize and creates unbreakable bonds with the other companies. You feel traveler in the most remote places on the planet, but it is the human landscape which reconciles us to our own species. It is somewhat uncomfortable to make a ranking of indigenous, but this article should be understood as a tribute to those tribes who taught us to appreciate the diversity of this world we call home shared.

1.-Nomads of the Gobi (Mongolia)

At the foot of the highest dunes in Asia, asked a young shepherd of camels if he was freer than I. His answer was emphatic as the climate of the Gobi: “Sí, because I have less property than you ". The phrase sums up the philosophy of his people, traveling wanderer, no more claims than a casserole with goat meat and a horizon to themselves. I've never seen a more pure, Nobody threatens their traditions, no one can corrupt your peace, simply because there is no one else.

2.-Maya of Chichicastenango (Guatemala)

The color defines this town. They say that the Maya are shy and have to compensate his taciturn character with rainbow in their doublets. In Chichicastenango brings together indigenous people from around the country to open its markets turning the city into a maze of fruit, chickens, sacred rites and Catholic churches. We witnessed the ceremonies of their ancestors and such traditions mixed with Christian crosses their creeds have become entangled.

3.-Nubian villages (Sudan)

Mongolian nomads share that peace so characteristic of the desert. But their world has been moored on the banks of the Nile and no one dares to cross cattle grazing Nubia. His influence makes them Muslim men and women hospital. His personality is in the Nubian heritage and carry in their genes the art of building pyramids, but do not boast when they receive historical abroad with a handful of dates for the road

You feel traveler in the most remote places on the planet, but it is the human landscape which reconciles us to our own species.

4.-Indians Suruí (Brazil)

The world should shout their story. Were on the verge of extermination a few decades ago. The white man wanted to start their traditions with the same ease with bringing down the Amazon rainforest, home. Today, the Suruí are a model of tenacity and respect. Instead of resentment, have planted thousands of trees to reforest their people. Even his boss, Almir Surui, managed to convince those responsible for reporting Google Earth satellite the illegal logging. I will say with pride that there is a Mogano in his village who gave me plantar. So my roots also grow there.

5.-Alaskan Eskimos (U.S.)

Last week I told the story of this place so unusual that shakes his mere memory. El frío extremo ha forjado también un carácter helado en los habitantes de Diomedes, but for a week in "Island of the World" understood that you should never ask why anyone lives in the place where he was born.

6.-Aymara Titcaca (Peru)

There is a place on the shores of Lake Titicaca where the world is yellow. The islands of the Uros have formed apelmazando totora reeds that create platforms on the lake, mobile on the quiet island of some waters 4.000 meters above sea level. Peoples are artificial, perhaps forged by the unreality of a growing tourism, but we must not forget that many families live there, yellow at home, also reed, eating cattail reeds, sailing reed boats.

7.-Himbas (Namibia)

Of all the towns we visited on our trip around the world, this is the most photogenic, the most beautiful. Women are slim as the baobabs, have the Namibian desert reddish hair and mud as the fate of the nomadic. The Himba have left us a primitive air and with it all its purity. They just need a fire to be approached to convert the fields in your home.

What we have left…?

I fear that we have left all the peoples of the world, including yours and mine, because every place is the place of someone.
