Ways to "Tourism", many. Some are separated from the mass flow and seeking the difference between the tourist and the traveler, whatever. In my experience, hang tag is one of the most frustrating tasks possible. How often we, pro travelers, after crossing miles of desert, starve, cold, suffer illness or "bugs", We ended up being nothing more than "Tourist" for the first location we have found. Not very flattering but quite realistic.

As one good friend and good traveler, Going the Distance, "Today the only remaining travel only do that in the attempt Palman". No I have never fully understood but probably in this, as in many things, may be right.

Another twist is traveling when nobody wants to do, looking for that charm with the ruins, abandonment, or less attractive stations

Another twist is traveling when nobody wants to do, looking for that charm with the ruins, abandonment, or less attractive stations. Getting there, lagoon up, to New Fundamente the Venecia in the month of January, in the last vaporetto, without hotel and pouring. An experience even outside the conventional tourist catalog. Then, Travel, by elimination.
The streetlights are blurred in the fog on a wet street, narrow, where the smell of stagnant water, mold on the walls and old wells curbs play with us and make us lose again and again.

A row of worshipers leaving the cathedral in the rain, in silence, watched by a guard almost as old as the campanile on the parade. A coffee Florian (only one, our economy can not handle more…), another under the Academy and long walks puddle puddle in setting the pace, slow, dying, away from a cliché Venice amusement park for fans Man, Ruskin o Proust.

Sitting on a terrace by the mercado de Cannareggio, a mature woman, bent and silent, sells flowers in the drizzle. Orange carnations moldy against the walls of the channels. Hardly move or when I ask one and I make a photo. Just look at me, Venetian eyes, aqueous and sad, and only smiles to indicate the 10 Price € Carnation. Venecia.

The square of the Frari. Two banks soaked. We sat down with a piece of pizza (prices no longer look, if not starve ). A small group of eastern, Malaysians seem to be, stop by the Basilica. Time by grumpy, are faced with your guide, a young blonde and thin Venetian does not understand the angry chatter of their guided. Then, One of them says, around us and start us photos. I choked on the pizza with terror, almost thinking that I have become a statue and then the excitement. But. We are the only "turisti" with them in Venice (unlikely, but at this time I will not discutirles) and regale us with their email addresses to credit someone to travel to Venice in January is not absurd. Burda excuse for us, Professional travelers almost. Never tourists. But, you are a tourist?

One of the points we Malaysians tourists; around us and start us photos. I choked on the pizza with terror, almost thinking that I have become a statue and then the excitement

A few months after that story and yesterday I received a photo from Malaysia. Twenty-two smiling faces Eastern European and surprised serious. After the white stones Frari. Nothing separates us from them, or clothing, and accessories.

Perhaps best of being a traveler is not having the need to ask others what we believe. Better continue our dream and keep traveling, as and where.

Good route Ulysses, whatever you are!

Tourist?? Traveler?? Stereotypes that no longer worth anything, when all they want to be the latter first and second, often, rather be the first…Travelling for pleasure or for business travel, Where do you stop? Could it be a matter of attitude? Because sometimes requires something different each place… Best, even if it rains, do out of season, Venice even when prices are always the same!

And in the end does not matter the name that define what we are or how we do it?… What matters is the journey itself and each does so in a way that you like.
Yes, if we have to opt for a form, nos quedamos con «viajar a Venecia en Enero» 🙂
