We opened a new door in the world and the skeletons of modern destruction dinosaurs lie on both sides of the road. Upon vera apocalyptic twist the charred remains of tanks and the giant black snakes that can be seen in the distance, the closer, military convoys become obliterated by human dementia. But do not be fooled by this war atmosphere. Angola doors were closed thirty years but are now open… painfully reminding from the first kilometers we travel through its territory, the reasons why it was closed for three decades: war. His legacy is creepy macabre. Angola is a country where life expectancy is 37 years, where most of the population has to live on less than one euro a day and cholera epidemics, malaria and AIDS are rampant. The war ruined the country planted and watered with tears every home. A place where green skin under vegetation attractive hiding deadly parasites million landmines as.

Angola is a country where life expectancy is 37 years, where most of the population has to live on less than one euro a day and cholera epidemics, malaria and AIDS are rampant.

Angola has all the ingredients to put it aside but had to try, the "fame" before certain places we have never been proved to be decisive. Countries "cursed" by the press as Libya, Afghanistan Pakistan, overcome the initial apprehension, in the end we have provided extraordinary human experiences and we are students immersed in fascinating cultures. But the decisive factor that made us get into Angola to risk was the fact that their elections were conducted without disturbance, becoming an example for all of Africa. It is indicative that the population wants peace and rebuild their lives, that Angolans have decided to mourn their dead in their houses instead of wanting to avenge on the streets.

The IBA avance to be slow, soon realized that the roads are divided into two categories: the "newly paved" and "hell", they are almost all after decades of neglect. The asphalting work is carried out by Chinese companies, and most reconstructions: public buildings, hospitals, schools… Their prices are unbeatable, moved from China to thousands of workers earning poverty wages, in poor conditions and no right to complain because that would return to China without work. The government plans to build in the next two years to 14.000 Km. and reactivate road freight traffic. Let them get water and electricity are the other immediate priorities.

The roads are divided into two categories: the "newly paved" and "hell", they are almost all after decades of neglect.

Our road was over but the grueling extreme tracks progress was compensated by the scenery that surrounded us: acacia wooded savanna, Mopan and fascinating gigantic baobabs. The settlements that were appearing on the road cabins remained clustered within a fence. We also find the deepest roots of Angola: the huilas, a tribe very attached to their ancestral traditions, owners of their own language and were the last to come into contact with urban life. Women are going with their breasts exposed, loincloth and many beads on neck, arms and head.

With the infrastructure destroyed, we have to improvise every night. Sometimes we camp in the countryside, a mission other, in a school, up in police stations. Every night is different from before but what always clear is that we should not drive at night under any circumstances.

In Chibia our spirits through the roof, we see the future of Angola, hope, su reborn as one Ave Fénix

Everything is extremely expensive, a simple pineapple, it just has to be wrested from 2 meters stall, slope 2,4 € and a chicken 13 €. The only thing cheap is the fuel Angola (0,30€ / l) but the deployment fails and many gas stations are desbastecidas; We have always full auxiliary drums for use in case of shortage.

After hundreds of miles of small towns and rural life we Chibia, cutting a pleasant colonial town houses with orange tile. The activity bustles everywhere, rise buildings, facades are restored and planted flowers in gardens. We walked across markets, Brand new schools, outpatient impeccable… Here was where our mind goes through the roof, we see the future of Angola, hope, her reborn as a phoenix that is regenerated from the ashes. It is an energy recharge to move forward and continue to discover a new country that has just opened its doors to the world.
