Diary of a Nomad «touches land»

All continents have something that makes them unique. Africa offers wild animals, Europe and Asia the monumental wealth that sinks in a millenary history, but America is above all synonymous with grandeur. The landscapes that are contemplated here are so immense that they leave you speechless

The Diary of a Nomad Expedition, directed by the writer Miquel Silvestre, has arrived in Panama City, completing the journey through South America that began a hundred days ago in the Strait of Magellan. The objective is to produce the first Spanish documentary for television on motorcycle trips following the footprints of the discoverers of the 16th century. The adventure can also be followed live online through social networks, where he has enjoyed a great following.

24.500 kilometers of travel throughout ten countries have contemplated the journey of Miquel Silvestre, the cameraman Antonio Piris and the Argentine driver and photographer Heber Orona. The adventurers, equipped with a BMW R 1200 GS and a Toyota pickup, They have crossed the Andes mountain range fifteen times, traveled the route 40, the southern highway, have seen glaciers, crossed deserts, jungles and salt flats, They have climbed Amazonian rivers and even sailed the Caribbean Sea in a sailboat to overcome the impenetrable Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama..

“Everything went fabulously”, stresses Miquel Silvestre

“Everything went fabulously”, stresses Miquel Silvestre, “We have worked up to eighteen hours a day but despite the extreme hardness of some sections such as the windy Patagonia, the Paraguayan Chaco or the muddy routes of Bolivia or Peru we have not suffered any notable breakdowns or mishaps. For not having, We haven't had a single puncture the whole way.. Only very intense experiences of coexistence and self-knowledge, camaraderie and above all indescribably beautiful landscapes”.

What would a traveler who has already carried a hundred countries in his saddlebags be left with?? Silvestre responds without hesitation: “Two things surprised me.. Common language and geography. Speaking Spanish while so far from home makes you feel like you haven't really left; It is a curious sensation and at the same time a discovery. I loved recognizing forgotten words and different turns of speech. And then, american geography, that has no equal in the world. All continents have something that makes them unique. Africa offers wild animals, Europe and Asia the monumental wealth that sinks in a millenary history, but America is above all synonymous with grandeur. The landscapes that can be seen here are so immense that they leave you speechless.”

After completing your work, The adventurers return to Spain with retinas full of experiences and also several hard drives full of images, interviews, characters and moments of genuine life captured by Antonio's camera. The editing room awaits you now. During the summer they will edit the documentary, which will be broadcast over thirteen episodes starting in January 2015.
