The Congo: Lodewijk grandfather's flight and hunting Belgian

The flight had left behind his home, their possessions and their lives. He started joining other Belgians who also sought to escape but were stopped by rebel troops, gunpoint and killed one of them. After that, dispersed each to their own. The streets were filled with military mutineers who beat up men of European origin and raped women, while in the ditches were the first bodies.

Jodhpur, India: the land of death
