I Amsterdam

As night falls, the teenage city has no schedules, lives locked in a party, making pellets, rebel, with that grace of a good child who wants everything, that perpetual revelry, challenging, that extra joint, those less rules.

“I Amsterdam”. This is how the city is announced in big letters. A play on words to express something like “I am Amsterdam”. I have visited the Dutch capital several times and I am beginning to see the meaning of such a slogan.. Maybe we are all a little Amsterdam, Well, we all have an adolescent point that emerges when we give ourselves over to temptation.. I think Amsterdam is a city in the age of turkey, a spoiled kid.

During the day he moves by bicycle. It has canals and mills and trams and painters who fill the museums with sunflowers. It is a labyrinth of concentric streets, like looking at herself. He doesn't give a damn about the rest of the world because it has some wall and secrecy.

As night falls, the teenage city has no schedules, lives locked in a party, making pellets, rebel, with that grace of a good child who wants everything, that perpetual revelry, challenging, that extra joint, those less rules.

I don't know a city that changes so much with the intention of the visitors.. In Amsterdam, everyone discovers their own condition as a traveler.. I've seen couples go through the flower market decorating their Dutch weekend with tulips; Music lovers passionately seek a place at the Concertgebouw; artists enter a Rembrandt exhibition with the admiration provoked by a genius unattainable by mortals. Amsterdam strips you of complexes and over time has become a refuge for the misunderstood. Just look at the healthy mix of races walking hand in hand. Slanted eyes, dark skin, dreadlocks and redheads, everyone lives together with a certain harmony in this city that has forgotten any hint of prejudice.

sexual orientation, provenance, ideology and even the desire to lose oneself concern each person and no one interferes. The city-adolescent leaves the house slamming the door. No one will wait up for you. Anything goes. Then the traveler decides whether to keep up.. I have always been encouraged to see what happens, to that curiosity that encourages us to let ourselves go and in the nightlife of Amsterdam one cannot avoid the red showcases or immerse oneself in the Coffee Shops. They sell cost with a smile and hallucinogenic mushrooms with a wink. Women are exposed naked on the street. Nothing is clandestine.

Among the tourists, there are calm ones and more anxious ones, since the legality of the vice can provoke both reactions. There are young people who join the party and others who live anchored in it. Some have ended up slaves to so much freedom.

Adolescence is a difficult age. You live with intensity, It's fun and it's beautiful, but it is not advisable to anchor yourself in it. Although we would all like to return sometime.
