Since last 8 April is in the library's new book, Javier Reverte, "In the wild seas. A trip to the Arctic ". Viajesalpasado.com readers have had the opportunity to submit questions to the master of travel writing. This online interview is the answer to their concerns

-Elena Minguez: Why the Arctic?

-Because I have always been fascinated by stories of exploration in these areas and it is very difficult to. My love to go to the places where legends were forged, Like others like to go to the Vatican or Mecca. I am a pathological liar in history and literature, friend Elena.

-Carlos Iglesias: sr. Reverte, said about his trip to the Arctic that this territory is the hardest and least explored land. I think it is the second, behind Antarctica. Did not plan on making a trip to sixth continent?

-I've been close, at Cape Horn, and the truth is that I would go longer. But writing, I do not think. Much has been written about Antarctica; Instead, Arctic, very little.

-Juan Ignacio Sánchez: M. Reverte, though infinitely unless you, I have accumulated some experience traveling. Lately, however, I have developed a certain sense of ennui by dynamics reach sites and, have had virtually no time rather than playing surface lifestyle that place, from having to… How do you do to deal with it? How do you have the strength to go through areas, You will have seen thousands, see so many needs, and move forward knowing that out there may never again?

-Well, I am somewhat fatalistic. And I have assumed that life is short and the world over. What you would produce weariness, produces me melancholy. But that does not stop I will travel and write. It would be like not to enjoy life by having the certainty that you will die. But I think you are young…¿no? Take advantage and enjoy the beauty of the world, is a privilege

-Natalia Muri: What is the trip, choose one, that remains to be done?

-The Moon. But do not think I would pay my editorial. So, on the road, me hopeful México, Mongolia, Philippines, he Oeste American, Bolivia, el Yang-tse… While world and has legs, no way, Natalia friend.

-Ignacio Gayo: Are you at risk of becoming the Arctic in the dunghill of the planet if it is not already?

-Sure to be a danger, although it is not yet. The ships bring snowmelt, people, goods, pollution and waste… Inevitable if we do not remedy the issue quickly. But it is not easy: there is too much oil up there.

-Edu: be politically incorrect, What country or people did not like anything?

-The European continent's center bore me and, usually, are selfish; and I like the Spanish bit, I included, by informality and showing arrogance or show-, if you prefer- in ignorance. Do not hear the gatherings? It is a genuinely Spanish journalistic genre, there out there.

-Manuel Vergara: Xavier, of all your books, read almost entirely, there are plenty of destinations, latitude, of ethnic…….I do not want to get in the stake that you have to choose…..surely someone wrong you understand…..but if you had to choose between the experience of the latter river Congo or Arctic, What repetirías before ? I did both and I want to redo…

-Arctic, certainly. Because in the Congo almost killed me and anyone going over there in danger of dying. Did not happened to you?. Will not go back.

-Belen Modrego: Travelling looking for something or running from something?

-Looking to learn new things and fled the boredom that gives me the known. Is that okay, Nativity scene?

– A. M. T.: Would it still traveling if I could not write down their impressions?

-I think not, because my first pleasure is to write. But you never know…

-Fernando Alvarez Olano: Do you think that people who read your books does travel in part to escape the real world and move to stunning settings?

-There is everything, I guess. Readers who have known me about traveling with me without needing to move, of using my books as a sort of guide to travel…, etc.. I can not give a general answer, truth.

-Óscar Charneco: Is there a place where I would not?

-Several: I did not like Vienna, Heraklion, Abidjan, Guinea Ecuatorial (Spanish ex-)…

-Edurne Etxeberria: How does your family their long absences? In the case, To whom should be "a monument" for that wonderful freedom we enjoy on their travels?

-Just love people that leaves me free, so that those who love me understand my long absences to perfection. If someone tie, untie me and never return, can be assured. I just love free conceive.

-Maria Rodriguez: Where in the world has felt freer?

-Maybe in Canada, forests in the Yukon, where there were no other humans in over a hundred miles around.

-Pedro Manzano: What is the difference between a travel book and a travel journal?

-A travel book should have a literary structure, as it is a novel, although in this case actually speak of, and should be good to do a good writer. A diary can do any. But if it's good, can become a good piece of literature. The literature is what counts, but in the manner in which account.

-Lorena Lobato: Any message for Dimitris?

-So give him a big hug from me. Surely invites you to a wine and, imagine if pretty as, igual proposes marriage, Lorena. A donjuan.

-Ander Murillo: you are also a published poet and novelist Think your travel books eclipse not so well known that part of his work?

-I think the complement. What happens is that they have greater audience among readers. In any case, three genera are great I love practicing.

-Paco Delgado: Whence comes this love of the sea?

-Maybe because I had the misfortune of being born inland. In any case, the sea gives me a tremendous feeling of freedom, world without walls or boundaries… I think that makes me feel alive.

-Isabel: What book would have liked to write?

-The Odyssey. Or better: be Odysseus and Homer sing my exploits.

-Martin Garcia Revilla: in Spain, as said Larra, Is writing still mourn?

-Not as much as was. Writers, now, we can live like this, although we are very few. Anyway, we abused. I think the powerful consider us idiots. And Spain, particularly, wants very little to their writers. I take time to explain all this.

-Alicia: At this point in your life do you feel most nostalgic for places you have visited or are you for visiting?

-I keep longing, especially, I do not know what. And the point of my life…, good, I have a few studs, but I'm still a young man. Tourism is, somewhat, take space to old age.

-Javier H.: «The wounds inflicted on beauty, like love, "They never completely heal.", posted in VaP.. So that leaves the literature in a country such as Spain cainita?

-Spain still hurts, you're right, namesake. And that's a good reason to go from time to time. I would forever, truth, if I tied my family and my friends. There are countries better than ours, do not hesitate, and some here next. We have been educated, inter alia, the envy.

Greetings to all and thanks.
