When someone says: "This cannot be done", will be surprised by someone to do it. Clearly, the assumed risk and the effort delivered to what you really believe, pays. You become aware that we put the limits; that barriers are in mind more than anywhere else. What do you want, can. «Between him 80 and 90% Your success depends on your way of seeing life, of your attitudes, of your emotions and less than 10% of your knowledge », Consider Emilio lasted.
Verses, phrases made, maximum… Many contain immense wisdom, But in the end I always repeat myself: Focus your destiny and mimic yourself complying with it. Many ask me what I learned from adventure. I have tried to capture all this in the book, But as who inherits it does not steal it, and my family is great refranera, I hesitate to repeat some of the ideas generated or reinforced in this learning.
Focus your destiny and mimic yourself complying with it
My Decalogue Atlantic rowing:
1. Love, positive attitude and education. When people treat there are two ways: first, with the jackboot on the neck by the command and control and, second, by the path of love; if you want, if emotions, the relationship is easier and profitable for all.
2. Determination, concentration and preparation: Fear is, largely, result of a lack of preparation. Dude never llegar of the Barbados paddling; or sinking the boat, o llegábamos.
3. The professional will save you time and money: From theory to practice in low flight chopped, but in practice the theory goes some way to take long scrolled ... if you get.
4. Do not rely ever, anticipate danger and always have a plan B in the hat: The belief-erroneously-that the real danger could come during the trip across the Atlantic made us underestimate crossings between islands during training that, a priori, seemed easy or not so risky and almost did not have.
5. Never work too, because if you do not have time to think and if you do not think you will not achieve your goals, your dreams…
6. A good team makes a difference; is essential to have good collaborators. Be hard on the problem but soft on the people. It must be reprobated in private but praise in public.
7. See things with perspective, From a certain distance and dedicate intelligent time. Sometimes, The branches do not let us see the forest.
8. Order is indispensable for success. Often, The unnecessary stress that we support has generated it ourselves.
9. Do what you are passionate about. If you can't now, Well, when you can. It is easy to follow the way, The difficult thing is to know which.
10. And I finish this list with a phrase that makes me relativize the life and projects on which I embark, And never better employee. One day my grandfather Alejo, his 80 years and perfectly lucid, he took me by the hand and with a tender look he told me: Peter, I swear, I had yesterday 20 years…
Life is what happens to you while you make other plans
My dear friend and coaching expert Monica Zorrilla Perez wanted to know more about the why and wherefore of the crossing. The first thing I noticed is that I want to wake silenced potential in me, possibly without being aware of it. While studying I had two plates of honor: one in gymnastics and one in art, logically right in the two subjects I'm passionate about. Perhaps there ought to walk my unique talent, my purpose in life. According to the law of Dharma is that talent that we all have but do not we all know and develop. That could have taken a different course but… Life is what happens to you while you make other plans (John Lennon).
I was unaware of Rafael Feliu Blanes's sayings (1915) collected in a manuscript called "the art of making fortune". The first one says like this: Choose business class (or projects) that more adapts to your inclinations. Perhaps not having developed those natural skills urged me to look for a project that made me vibrate and Ann Goulden's question wanted to cross the Atlantic rowing opened the exhaust valve and something made him answer that in the act. That did come out of the soul, of my essence, and challenged the rational of my situation by releasing, while, A yearning accumulated inside me. That yes made me vibrate with freedom, passion, happiness, trust and self -esteem. Combaging emotion and reason is not easy. I wanted to break the routine, Awakening from boredom - that's why I am also a volunteer firefighter - to live the emotion of risk, Cut with the rational ... it attracts me so much to stretch from the rope that the other extreme arrived - in which death stares in your eyes - makes me return back to the rational, to what he fled. Reached this point the balance of the wheel of life is balancing again. That against what I fight is also what saves me.
One must commit but either must be imperatively forced
These two challenges, Atlantic crossing and the writing of this book (honestly, I do not know which has been more difficult) have given me the opportunity to: first, ratify wonderful people there; and, secondly, Learn to navigate the ocean, survive in extreme situations, emotions feel asleep, clarify the ideas a bit… I've realized that one should not be bound to commit but imperatively. Be too strict and not very flexible with oneself, Coarta you, It limits your freedom and that of others, denies you the option to renegotiate the commitments, thing that usually are feasible.
In short, when you manage to consummate such a challenge, win the confidence to believe you can achieve whatever you set your mind. My life now leads this thought. My purpose in recounting my experiences of the journey is none other than share and spread the emotions and everything learned from this experience. They have done and continue to do with me other boaters to those who read, enjoy and learn with their travel. I would have done it over this text that represents, also, compliance with a given word: if I'm alive, write a book.
