These are the seven palaces that we liked in VaP.. What are yours?
1.- Potala

Text and photos: J. Brandoli y R. Coarasa

1.- Potala (Tibet)

His magnificent presence still overwhelms the capital of Tibet, a city where Tibetan essence is diluted rapidly. The former residence of the Dalai Lama is a palace-fortress, and in turn religious epicenter, unparalleled worldwide. If the castles that populate the pages of Amadis of Gaul, those who inflamed the imagination of Don Quixote, ever existed, should be like this. Never get tired of admiring, especially from the vantage point of the hill-Ri Chagpo. To imbibe the mysticism of the pilgrims, nothing better to walk the kora (circuit surrounding the Potala) confusion among the faithful constantly spinning their prayer wheels while the universal murmur Tibetan mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum".

2.- The Alhambra (Spain)

You climb the narrow cobbled streets and magical Albaicín. On the right you see his sturdy walls that seem to hang on the rocks. At each step a new view. More, need to see more. Suddenly you get to the Mirador de San Nicolas and behold the Alhambra in all its glory. Hours, You can spend hours looking. In his famous' sunset; evening, illuminated the darkness; when the sun hits at once and turn their red walls… Inside, everything is a perfect combination of art, decoration, water, lights, battlements, gardens. Al Andalus in its perfect execution. One of the most beautiful places on the planet.

3.- Palacio Ufizzi (Italy)

The Uffizi Gallery or the Uffizi Palace is art in its purest. Inside and outside. It's actually a palace within a palace is higher than Florence as a whole. Every corner, each street becomes overwhelming beauty. Construction began in 1560 mandated by the powerful Medici family and is now an art store that is exposed between the walls. No matter how many times you enter the building or surround yourself, always have the feeling that you discover new. At night, and the city streets empty of tourists, its image grabs you. Florence is a place you always want to go back to replay the sound of my steps between the walls of the Uffizi Gallery.

4.- Palace of Pena (Portugal)

A 45 minutes by train from Lisbon is Sintra, the former summer residence of the kings of Portugal. Swallowed by the mountain, the Palácio da Pena is the romantic whim of a king, Fernando II, that in mid-nineteenth up this fairytale castle honoring the melancholy that pervades the land. The vivid colors of its battlements and towers will surprise the visitor upon arrival. Is a delight to wander through the Parque da Pena, a lush forest that the king was responsible for stocking and sprinkle small lakes, and fall further emphasizes the romance of Sintra. Here the king ordered to build a house for his mistress, an opera singer to marry later. If anyone was missing reasons to come to here, A popular saying states that have not finished watching the world until it has been in Sintra.

5.- Kremlin Palace (Russia)

In fact the square of the Kremlin are the union of four palaces and four cathedrals. Each building has a unique appearance. Nice, very beautiful. You see the nostalgia of the old regime put wreaths in honor of soldiers who made the country great. Nearby vendors approach you souvenirs from the former Soviet Union. So much to see that one is lost, but you have to see everything. It is an unforgettable place where you meet several times. The Russia of the Tsars, Communist Russia and Russia has embarked on a savage capitalism. Everything there, in that immensity of architectural beauty.

6.- Palacio de los kabaka of Buganda (Uganda)

The palace of the Kabaka of Buganda kings or, one of the embryos of the current Uganda, was eaten in March 2010 by a fire whose causes have not yet been clarified. You are now in full rebuilding thanks to financial support of Unesco. Here he displayed his court one of the most influential African kings, Mutesa I (reigned 1856 and 1884), host of great explorers like Speke, discoverer of the Nile Sources, y Stanley. Pantheon of the last four of Buganda Kabakas (in fact it is known today as the tombs of Kasubi), do not expect to find a use Western Palace. We've included in this relationship just as the exponent of African monarchies. The main campus is a huge hut around which are aligned in some smaller circle where the women lived the sovereign. A curiosity: here still live the sixth generation of women Mutesa (came to have 84 handcuffs).

7.- Buckingham Palace (United Kingdom)

Probably the most topical and perhaps this is its charm. See the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is a must for every tourist, at that time you feel part of a horde of cameras that provide a symbol of a nation. Inside you can see the Royal Collection, last great art collection belonging to a European royal family. The palace, Queen's official residence, is part of the charm of the British phlegm that has made them colonize the planet a glancing blow, almost like you take the tea.
