Eduardo Martinez de Pison

Born in Valladolid 1937, He is a Doctor of Geography and Professor Emeritus of Geography at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has been a professor of geography at the Complutense University of Madrid of 1975 a 1978; Geography Professor at the University of La Laguna (Tenerife) between 1978 and 1982 and, from 1981 to 2007, Professor of Physical Geography of the Autonomous University of Madrid. And, Since October 2007, He is a professor emeritus at this university. He worked in urban geography and later specialized in physical geography, field in which he has done most of his research, publications, Teaching and Study Management. He has written numerous books and articles on the Spanish mountains and about very diverse external mountain ranges. His works deal with, therefore, especially of natural landscapes of mountain ranges, volcanoes and glaciers. In relation to its environmental activities and in defense of the mountains he received in 1991 The National Environment Award. It is correspondent for Spain of the "World Glacier Monitoring System". He has been a member of the Spanish MAB Committee (UNESCO). Between 1991 and 1995 He presided over the Spanish committee of the "Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research". From 2002 a 2012 He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of National Parks. From 1999 He is director of the “Landscape Institute” of the Duques de Soria Foundation. He has also written geography dissemination books and has participated as a geographical advisor in documentaries in the North Pole, Alaska, Siberia, Gobi desert, Taklamakán desert, Silk Road, Karakorum, Himalaya y Transhimalaya, Tibet, Libical desert,etc..
