The newest hotel in Africa

Agulhas Country Lodge Posada de la Almay. The hotel's southernmost continent. No more. Is final. Es Cape Agulhas. Return is only.
My bedroom window

None more behind. Behind there is only a calm sea never. Is final. The southernmost point of a continent. The place where two oceans face, Atlantic and Pacific. There are hardly any life in the village. Only occupied another room in this small hotel. The light in the room trembles by the rush of wind. Candles. Is final. Es Cape Agulhas.

The Agulhas Country Lodge has the look of an old inn sea. Made of stone, on a small hill under the road crossing, facing the sea. The sea looks. “It Almayer ", I think when I stop the car, the inn of a book that fascinates me, Ocean, donde Plasson, painter, tries to find the eyes of the sea with water canvas painting: his paintings are always invisible. Or where Dod, a child, tells the doctor Bartheboom, after a short conversation in which he appears in her window sill, "I hope to be a little less stupid when you go". The book is sea, as Almayer, like this place.

There are only eight rooms. In each story hangs one of the many shipwrecks that have occurred on these shores

The night is closed. Knocked at the door and a young woman leaves the kitchen. Got Breakfast? Yes, I teach them. I taught two: the first has a huge jacuzzi and a luxurious TV; the second a shower and a huge window facing the sea. Nothing. "We were the second". How much? "Rands 1.400 (140 EUR)”, responds. "I can not pay it". "How much can you pay?”. “800 rands”. “Hecho” (and speed of response leaves you thinking you had slept 600 Rands. Business in Africa). Is this the hotel to the south of Africa? “Sí, so ". There are only eight rooms, one more than in Almayer. In each story hangs one of the many shipwrecks that have occurred on these shores. Old paintings, old stories.

After a shower we went down to the dining room. The room is lit with candles. The chairs placed in front of the window, waterfront. We attend a funny guy, from Malawi, that has been chopped of southern Africa to come to an end. “Malawi, Zambia, Johannesburg, Cape Town and now here ", explains. "You can not go lower". Smile. Dinner is baked fish, exquisite, watered with a fine wine. After, the waiter tells us that go up to the second floor. There is a small room, books, and a larger one with a fireplace. End, a veranda from which scattered waves. Owner Photos, a South African fighter pilot poses in some of the conflicts speaking (I guess it will be Namibia and Angola). A Cup. Night. Sleep listening to the waves. Tues oceanfront Awakening.

Morning, a 400 meters from the hotel, go down to the lonely lighthouse. We see two small bed&breakfast, open seasonally. I've been here almost a year ago, but then I fell to sleep. After the old building that has seen countless ships to sink, a dirt road and the bottom a monolith. "Are you in the southernmost point of Africa", says its board. Meet is where the Atlantic and Indian. For those who want to know more about this place I refer to the post I wrote then: https://www.viajesalpasado.com/cape-agulhas-el-punto-mas-al-sur-de-africa/

No more. Is final. Es Cape Agulhas. Return is only.
