Morelia: tacos, tuna and time…

For: Daniel Landa

Arabian princess has name, Mexican flavor and Spanish countenance. Morelia is a friendly city, limbo peaceful contrast to the turbulent reality of the capital, only 300 miles away.

General Jose Maria Morelos, architect of Mexican independence, bequeathed his name to this city, rifles now changed by guitars. Maybe that's why you do not just link your name to a military. We arrived with a halt to stress, as one who smiles the smile student before dominating the streets.

In the main square, next to a cathedral cheerful, tuna sang the love and the bravery, to nostalgia and despair, such as recurrent themes in the heart of the Mexican, but it sounded to Spain and began singing confirm the bullfighters, Morelia carries blood because Hispanic, like many other colonial cities, only here it seemed to me that they remembered in every corner.

We arrived with a halt to stress, as one who smiles the smile student before dominating the streets.

Wandering aimlessly, that is the most consistent of walking a beautiful, reach an aqueduct without water, that entertains passers trying to tell their 253 arches. It is surrounded by gardens and fountains and shirtsleeves, without the solemnity of the aqueduct of Segovia, but with the lightness of a more clement spring. We had arrived during Holy Week processions and there itself off the festive atmosphere of the day, to dignify the devotion and mourning. Again the feeling back to that version in Mexico returning to its roots with dignity, endorsing, imported traditions.

But in the dark face of its inhabitants, one understands that in addition to the facades and music or religious ritual, the city is home to the quiet of the indigenous culture. They do not make noise, adapt, survive and appear are your clothes colors next to candy market and sell their crafts with serious gesture of someone who feels a minority in their own home.

Most of the Latins are indigenous and Spanish, because over the centuries has been linking races and thus has expanded its roots.

Most of the Latins are indigenous and Spanish, because over the centuries has been linking races and thus has expanded its roots. Course, no difference of classes, something sharper than racism here-, but usually, Mexican ethnicity does not discuss. His pride is a shared pride. And in that communion of inheritance, one discovers the true essence of Morelia.

Inside the church of San Diego is a mixture of styles, they have achieved the Baroque Mexicanize, covering the dome, columns and nave with clay filigree golden and red painted. It is a wreath to the Virgin of Guadalupe and a treat for any visitor.

Morelia necesita tiempo, because you can not go in a hurry a paved.

As night falls, the magic of the city is transformed, becoming more dim the excitement, but with the same sound of chanting and open restaurants, to serve tacos and quesadillas with spicy us towards returning from Europe to America constantly.

We were recording their corners to take a bit of its charm, but Morelia takes time, because you can not go in a hurry a paved. It takes centuries defined. Let her well, with tuna, their tacos and their time, let her indefinite, porque en eso radica su personalidad.
