Rebun: the Japanese island of smiles

Vast grasslands contrasted with the blue sky and thousands of wildflowers loomed everywhere. Out of nowhere a landscape appeared that looked like a painting: behind the vast fields, you could see the imposing Pacific and the shore of the island at the foot of rock formations of impressive figures.

"We are reaching the ferry terminal". The, at least, It is the translation in summary of what I heard. Finally, After having traveled five hours by train, sleep in a hostel and cross the sea, I could get to my destination. The trip had been tired, But it was worth so much waiting. I was in a small town; however, There was a lot of movement, because from all parts of Japan tourists arrived at the island of Rebun, located in the northernmost part of Japan, in Parque nacional rebun-srishi-sarobetsu.

Going down from Ferry I met a man who raised a canvas that said "Momoiwaso". I approached and gave my name. The man took me to a blue truck, Something old, whose rear was covered by a green canvas. He checked a sheet and told me to wait. After a few minutes, He climbed to the rear of the truck and, aloud, He gave certain instructions in a fun way and began to climb the people. I noticed a certain strange tone in his voice, It was too happy to be true. In order, We climb to the truck. Already being in the back, Another man introduced, And with the same cheerful tone, He gave us several recommendations. After about fifteen minutes, The truck stopped and we continue on foot on a path that was next to the road.

The weather was excellent: A sunny day, With few clouds, But enough to show the picturesque sky. As we were walking, The landscape was opening before us. Vast grasslands contrasted with the blue sky and thousands of wildflowers loomed everywhere. The path we were around was narrow but quite comfortable; Each stone was ordered to walk without problem. By continuing to walk, out of nowhere in front of us appeared a landscape that looked like a painting, A postcard image: passing the extensive green landscape, The imposing ocean was appreciated Pacific and the edge of the island at the foot of rock formations of impressive figures. Everything was perfect. The peace I felt at that time is indescribable. I can't stop impressing the beautiful corners that our planet Earth keeps.

After touring such a spectacular landscape, The blue truck arrived for us and I take us to the hostel, located outside the town, seaside, In a privileged area. Our accommodation rose in front of an excellent landscape, where sunsets are the main show. The building is made of wood and, According to the owner, He is approximately one hundred years, But I was in perfect condition. As soon as we open the door of the building, ten people fostered with rattles appeared among us, tambourines and shouted with enormous joy "Okaerinasai!” ("Welcome home"), to which we respond “Tadaima!” (An expression that could be interpreted as "I already got home."). The hostel's tone was affable. After filling a sheet and paying the stay, I went out to see the sea and to be attempt with the panoramic view of the horizon.

Everything was perfect. The peace I felt at that time is indescribable

After dinner, Four men came out of nowhere. Two of them were the ones who had received us and the other two were in the hostel when we arrived.
They began to sing and dance with an enthusiasm and energy that I had never seen before. Initially, I was too strange, Then funny, And in the end quite funny. They were doing a kind of show for us, where they explained to us in an extremely fun way and through songs and images a little about the island we were treading. I felt calm, at peace, relaxed, happy. More than a hotel to spend the night, I was in a kind of retirement house, where people forgot their problems and, simply, had fun hanging out with strangers.

The next day I walked for a while on other parts of the island. This time, The landscape could be seen differently, since dense clouds covered the sky. But, even so, It was beautiful to observe the fields. When it was time to return, One of the Hostal managers told me that as soon as I went up to the ferry I went to the back and peeled me.

When I leaving a feeling of nostalgia, joy and emotion, Despite having been just one night in that beautiful place

There he was with several guests saying goodbye to a song. They danced, they sang and applauded with such joy that I finally understood the meaning of everything that was happening. I got a feeling of nostalgia, joy and emotion, Despite having been just one night in that beautiful place. That emotional farewell made me feel at home, remind my family, To my partner, To my beloved earth. The ship began to move and, while they
They kept dancing and screaming, already being the ferry away from the port, He only managed to hear his voices shouting with great force «Itterashai!» ("Good trip" or "see you later").
