Yes, yes, I know that this blog is titled ¨ ¨ At Miami sun and therefore should only talk about what happens in Miami. But is that one occasionally travels and as I went to spend some days in Dominican Republic because he wanted to talk about something that not everyone knows. I mean the Rock Dominicano.

I lived two years in the Dominican Republic, I fell in love with the country, of its people and of my wife, it is also Dominican. So we can say that when I go there I'm tourist, sino local. I'll go places where Dominicans, attempt to escape the all-inclusive hotels and although I love bachata merengue and I also like to hear other things.
Also I was lucky that my two best friends, Peña and Maximum Marino Family, certainly, are of the best country rock musicians, I introduced in a circuit where passion, the desire and enthusiasm to play something different outweigh the lack of resources and opportunities to succeed beyond a few bars who believe in them even losing money.
And is that, except for a few very specific exceptions or events, is difficult to get more than 150 people at a rock concert.
The father of Rock Dominicano, recently died after living life exactly as he wanted to live, is Luis "Terror" Díaz. Probably in the dream of nothing, but he was the author of some of the most major issues of the country "Oh Ombe", "Marola" and "Dancing in the Street"(the refrain that Shakira). Marc Anthony, Sergio Vargas and Fernando Villalona have interpreted his songs. He also collaborated on the soundtrack of Blue in the Face and I, and share over a beer with him, I was fortunate to see him play well live rock with his band "La Victoria",¨ Marino led by Peña on guitar.
It was a beery rock, broken, and experiences of street lyrics street. "From Bufeo in Bufeo" is an anthem in Dominican alternative music.

With him and behind him were great bands. Tony Touch Deep Susana Almont and Leo are the most prominent. Today Leo Susana lives in Zaragoza and has kicked a few Spanish clubs by geography. The last time I saw, besides his band, playing with Puturru walked Fua.
And behind them, because for all tastes. These days I was there I enjoyed Mr. Reyes, Dominican cigar flavored ska if lucky go to Madrid to play; of Masrhon, a group that mixes electronics with new rhythms and who just signed with a Japanese label; Necro, heavy pesado; Cerobit, melodic pop lyrics ; Paul Cavallo ... and deserves mention Marel Alemany, amazing singer-songwriter that reminds me, personally, Ismael Serrano. Very good voice, letters kept and very elaborate sound. Meat and Broken Hearts Club are on youtube.
Nor do I forget the places that support these artists. Are local real good to go to take a beer, snack and, also, not hang out with all the turisteo .
Cinema Café, in the Plaza de la Cultura, is a site with amazing outdoor courtyard. It is next to the Cinematheque. After watching a movie almost free Europe you can drink a toast. Also in the Churchill Cinamon (very good kitchen), where a band plays Tuesday with high quality versions; The Meson de Quintana, in the colonial, where in addition to tapas during the day, at night on the weekends it gets fun, and Café Theatre, also in the colonial, where a true patron of the arts and culture called Freddy Ginebra exposures commitment, art, songwriters and everything that has to do with culture. Home Theater also has a patio where is a delight to be.
In order, I think this time I reached a little too. But is that so jodedera, tocadera and so much bebedera, as they say there, I think we deserved. Until next week friends!

I've embroidered, Mariano. Course, "El Terror" Díaz must have been a very interesting guy. The photo you posted of him is great. Contributions such as this help to banish Dominicans topics. A big hug and see when we take a beer in The Shield…

The Terror was tremendous. Rocker, rockero-punk de sexo, ron the R&R.Si find on the net Bufeo song in Bufeo freak. But also large as Sergio Vargas merengueros, Chichi Peralta,Fernando Villalona and even Juan Luis Guerra owe much

Mariano, that good article! Thanks for making public (internationally) that it is happening at Music in Santo Domingo, is super interesting, to my opinion, I left the country at a time when I felt that the Rock and new musical fusions (as does the band is Max with gnomic) are taking a leading role in the musical realm of the city. Terror was the best, it hurts to lose. But the good thing is that yes, as put, was among those who lived life as wanted.

Ey Anabel, I fear that these Tigueres gnomic and dissolved and or are on standby, when I was no longer playing.
Jajajajajaj, Carola at Rock Dominicano have to upgrade almost every month. As there is little support, groups come and go at full speed.
    A hug to the 2

Gnomic and yes still but only daily or separations are new groups or new integrations, in short there is something, which is cool! The truth is a small circle where everyone knows everyone and we are all friends or someone who plays in a band, which is cool too 🙂 There you forgot Rita Indiana

Certain, I forgot Rita Indiana and The Mysteries. Probably the best alternative music woman is doing right now in Dominican. His style blend of experimental / rock / merengue / hip hop with good lyrics (also writer) worth. The volvé Time is a good example of what she does.
Gnomish, who is a great guy, I did not know that was still alone
    Thanks Marlene.
