The next 6 August our second "Route to Africa unknown”, exciting three weeks in South Africa's land 4X4, Mozambique and Malawi. After the great adventure that was our first expedition, we repeat a second year with some small changes that we think make the tour even better. The route

The Viajesalpasado and Villas do Índico route through South Africa, Malawi and Mozambique aims to teach part of the lesser known South African. It is a full path in which we crossed by three national wildlife parks; a national park in the middle of paradise islands of the Indian Ocean and a large mountain gorges; a capital full of social and cultural life like Maputo and a capital full of turbulent history like Johannesnburg that we will go to meet the mythical Soweto; sail and live the life of that interior sea spectacular is Lake Malawi; bucearemos next to the whale shark; sleep on a pristine beach; we will take a regular train we cross the northern Mozambique; spend the night in cities where real life takes place African; and end up in that jewel of the time, World Heritage, which is the Island of Mozambique. Travel

Day 1- Flight to Johannesburg

Night flight to the South African capital. Peak hour meeting at the airport to South African 11 hours. The guide and the crew will be waiting for all the members of the group to start the route.

SOUTH AFRICA

Day 2. Johannesburg

We pick up all travelers on the morning of 6 August, we go to the hotel to take a shower and leave our suitcases and go to see the famous Soweto neighborhood: There is nothing better than starting an authentic trip through Africa than visiting the largest neighborhood in the entire continent famous for its struggle against apartheid.. There are emblematic places such as the Nelson Mandela House-Museum and the harsh apartheid museum. We sleep in Guest House or maybe, if times permit, in a very curious hotel in the very heart of Soweto.

Day 3. Johannesbugo-Blyde River Canyon

We catch all 4 very early×4 to avoid the legendary traffic jams of the city and we go to the impressive Blyde River Canyon. We will visit the beautiful canyon and its waterfalls, We will eat in a surprising place and sleep at the door of the Kruger Park itself..

Day 4. Kruger Park-

Day Game Drive (safari by car) by Park. Exciting day in which we will look for the Big Five. Kruger Park is an immense natural space of enormous beauty and full of wild animal life that we know perfectly. It is one of the best places on the continent to see elephants, Buffaloes, lions, Leopards, rhinos in one day. A challenge that seems impossible, ¿Or not? We slept in bungalows, at a camp inside the National Park.

MOZAMBIQUE

Day 5. Kruger Park- Maputo

Early in the morning we leave for the capital of Mozambique making a last safari through the park. We make a visit to one of the great African capitals that has a greater social and cultural life. The Portuguese Fort, Train Station (considered one of the most beautiful in the world), Casa do Ferro and the Botanical Garden are some of the attractions. For Africa must travel also its major cities, down stereotypes and understand the differences between rural and urban life. At night free dinner in which we recommend experiencing some of the fun nightlife of the city. We stayed in a charming Guest House.

Day 6. Maputo-Chidenguele

At midmorning we left for Chidenguele, two idyllic beaches with crystal clear waters and high sand dunes. We sleep in bungalows, next to a beautiful interior lagoon. Site of calm, peace, where to begin to contemplate the rural life of Mozambique.

Day 7. Chidenguele-Tofo

We go to Tofo, a small town in which we find a sandy beach, a small craft market and a vibrant social. Tofo is a meeting place for surfers and divers from around the world. Its waters are famous for being one of the places on earth where it is easier to see the breathtaking Whale Shark, the world's largest fish that reach more than 12 meters long (course, being a free animal is not guaranteed to 100×100 his sighting). There is no danger in this activity, the whale shark is absolutely peaceful, and can be seen snorkeling. An experience not to be missed. The activity of seeing the whale shark can be done the next morning. It is voluntary and is paid separately (cost approx, 40 EUR). We slept in a cabin.

Day 8. Tofo-Vilanculos

We arrived in Vilanculos, one of the most beautiful people of African Indian. A huge lonely beach and a special hotel (our house), 4 stars, where we have total comfort. The small luxury you deserve every trip.

Day 9 – Vilanculos

Visit to the Bazaruto Archipelago (excursion included). The islands of Bazaruto and Benguerra, with its huge sand dunes, take us to paradise. This National Park, and clear turquoise waters, and which is easy to see groups of dolphins jumping or watching a spectacular coral reef, is one of those places that the traveler never forgets. One of the most beautiful places probably on the planet.

Day 10 – Vilanculos

We stay one more day in the wonderful hotel, rested, taking a bath, relaxed and gathering strength for the change of route that is coming from the next day.

Day 11 Vilanculos-Gorongosa

We left early for the Gorongosa National Park. This park was before the Civil War in Mozambique the greatest density of wildlife on the continent had. Today, five years, is doing a spectacular job of restocking. Elephants are known for their lack of teeth or make them very short due to indiscriminate hunting of previous decades (a rare genetic mutation that scientists study). This is a very special natural area, of beautiful landscapes, themselves apenas turistas, and that takes us back to the old essence of African parks. Day 12 Gorongosa

Morning and evening we went to tour the park in search of wildlife and landscapes in watercolor. Camping.

Day 13 Gorongosa-Tete

Begins a long day of road. We leave early to Tete, a mining town in northern Mozambique attached to the famous Zambezi River. We will eat together with a mythical Tree, the baobab, an essential part of African legends and that arriving at Teté they are part of the landscape. From the road are also the mountains of the region of Manica: huge rocks that grow to the sky in attractive shapes. The whole tour is leaving post interesting, including small villages erected along the road. Just before sunset we arrived at Tete. After crossing the bridge that divides the river we arrived at the Lodge from which to contemplate a beautiful sunset over the water flow. Along the river there are scenes of laundry / os, half-naked / o rubbing their bodies and their clothes in the Zambezi water late in the afternoon and early in the morning. Dinner in the Cigane, fine dining restaurant, music and nightlife.

MALAWI

Day 14. Tete-Cape Mc Clear The second day long car trip. We crossed the border of Malawi and enter Mozambique. We go to Cape Mc Clear, town full of charm and close to the Lake Malawi. The image that is viewed from the Camp-Lodge is serene, beautiful and authentic. The hotel itself is next to a small town full of fishermen. In the afternoon I heard singing with their boats as they return to their homes. We sleep in a good campsite with beautiful views and under another starry sky. Camping

Day 15. Cape Mc Clear

Free day to visit the town or some parts of the environment. Who wants to stay relaxed and enjoying the lake, next to the lodge, can do. There are also options to take cars and go to Monkey Bay and visit other places in this "sea" in the interior of Africa.. Those who so wish can also take a boat and navigate the waters of this special place.. Camping

Day 16. Cape Mc Clear-Liwonde National Park

We moved to Liwonde National Park. This is a small national park, near the border with Mozambique, which has a rich and slightly contaminated by wildlife man. Another of those "secrets" of this continent. In the afternoon we will go into 4×4 in the park and go to sleep at the Baobab Lodge. A camping we will hear in the night, by a fire or from the shops, the sound of nearby hyenas or hippos. Unforgettable. Camping.

MOZAMBIQUE

Day 17. Liwonde-Cuamba Early in the morning we take a canoe tour through the park. We will see hippos, elephants and wild landscape and serene at a time where the boats sail calm waters of a thick vegetation. It is a great experience. After breakfast and some outdoor showers we go back to Mozambique. Arrived, after a long day in the car, a Cuamba, a city where you can watch real life inside the country. We slept in a hotel, very basic, in which to dine and go to bed early to live an unforgettable day following.

Day 18. Cuamba-Island of Mozambique

At five o'clock we take the train from Cuamba and Nampula. Almost 12 hours in which to enjoy a unique experience. At each stop the convoy hundreds of people come to sell all kinds of food and household. Africa in its purest. From our window we can see inside this beautiful show or mix with it. Everything is possible in this train. Then, Drive to Ilha de Mozambique 3 hours by car. Estimated arrival at the 20 hours We sleep in the lodge.

Days 19 and 20. Mozambique Island

Ilha de Mozambique is a World Heritage Site. A small island full of museums, churches, history and sandy beaches and water of different colors. Not a private place for tourists, it is a place full of real life in which to enjoy a quiet

and beautiful sunset, a ride on dhowl (typical boat swahili) or a delicious seafood meal. A final feast that perfectly sums up the style of this trip: free, real and full of feelings to come back with an idea of ​​Africa that is out of the great national parks and luxury tourism. Day 21. Mozambique Island, Nampula

We left early on 25 August to catch the flight that takes us to our place of origin.

Prices and conditions

Maximum group 12 People

The price is 2000 euros by the most 600 euros to be made in local payments to be given to the guides at the pick-up in Johanensburg.

recommendations

-Clothing: Bring some warm clothes. We are in winter and especially in South Africa nighttime temperatures can be low. A jacket for between 0 and 5 degrees is sufficient. In any case, predictable weather is dry and hot during the day. For camping should also bring some warm clothes if night temperatures drop. Also carry swimwear and sneakers or hiking boots. You can wash your clothes in Vilanculos, Gorongosa, Cape Clear and Island Mc Momzambique.

-Medicines. It is advisable to take malaria prophylaxis. The remaining no compulsory vaccinations and only recommended the Typhus, Hepatitis B y Meningitis. The traveler is left to do. Yes, it is important to bring mosquito repellent.

-Money exchange. Look every time a house changes that give us good performance. In the case of Malawi is likely to have to do at the border or out of cash. Another option is to travel with South African rand or dollars (South African currency is well accepted in all countries on the route and has a more stable exchange rate).

In this philosophy of freedom that inspired this trip, if travelers decide they do not want to sleep in tents in the park of Gorongosa, Cape Mc Clear y Lilondwe, and availability in the lodge, bungalows can sleep in there paying the difference. cancellations

Until a month before trip departure, 7 July, cancellations and no penalty will be charged only 40 per person for management expenses made. Until a week before departure, refunds shall be the amount 50 percent. After one week before departure, No refunds.

Changes in the route

The route may be modified by questions of feasibility or safety, and in both cases the power to make the decision guides.
